The seed, not the cross
A gold oval, pointed at both ends, pierced by one horizontal line. On a website about Jesus.
It will be called an all seeing eye. A masonic emblem. An occult sigil. A New Age glyph. Some of that has been said already.
If that is why you are here, this page is for you. It was written before the accusation arrived rather than after it, and it does not ask you to take anything on trust. Everything below can be checked by anyone with a search engine and a compass.
Here is the whole thing.
Take it apart
There are two shapes in it
That is the entire mark. Two shapes, and nothing else in it.
What it means
A seed at the moment of breaking through
The line is not decoration. It is the earth. The threshold between what is buried and what is visible.
Most seed symbols show only what is above the ground. The growth. The emergence. The fruit. They celebrate what is seen and skip the part that made it possible.
This one shows the moment before all of that. The seed caught exactly at the threshold. Half below, half above. Neither fully buried nor fully out of the ground. The precise moment of breaking through.
That is what ROOT points at. Not the fruit. Not the burial. The crossing. The place where the old self goes into the ground and what rises can love without condition.
The seed does not sit on the line. It passes through it. That is the whole teaching in a single mark.
The shape, and where else you have seen it
It is what two circles do
The oval has a name. It is a vesica, and it is what you get when two circles of the same size overlap so that each one passes through the centre of the other. That is the whole definition. It is a geometric result, not a doctrine, and anyone with a compass produces one in about four seconds.
You will find that shape in esoteric material. That is true, and it is better said here than left for someone else to say.
You will also find it, constantly, in the church. In Christian art the same shape is called a mandorla, and for centuries it was drawn around the figure of Christ. Christ in Majesty sits inside it in Byzantine mosaics, in Romanesque carving, and in the stone above the doors of Gothic cathedrals. It was also the standard shape of a medieval ecclesiastical seal. Round for secular business. This shape for the church's own.
So the shape being called occult here is the shape the church used to frame Christ, and to seal its own documents.
The fish, said carefully
There is a second thread, and the careless version of it is wrong, so here is the careful one.
The fish, the ichthys, appears in Christian art from the first decades of the second century and was widespread through the third. The cross was in use early as well, but it was a minor symbol by comparison, and it moved into general use in the fourth century.
So it is accurate to say the fish came to prominence before the cross did. It is not accurate to say the cross did not exist as a symbol until then, and ROOT will not make the second claim in order to strengthen the first.
You will find that habit everywhere on this site. Where a claim is strong, it is made. Where it is a reading, it is labelled as one. Where the evidence goes against what ROOT would have preferred, that is printed too.
Why not the cross
It was never his chosen image
The cross was the instrument of his execution. It became the emblem of Christianity under the empire that had used it, and it has carried, since then, a great deal of what was done in its name.
That is a charge against empire and institution. It is not a charge against you. If the cross is precious to you, nothing here asks you to put it down.
ROOT's mark is a seed because he chose that image himself.
Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. John 12:24, his words
A seed is the most radical object in nature. It holds an entire life inside it. It requires burial to become what it is. It works in darkness, underground, invisible, before anything at all appears above the surface.
A seed belongs to no empire and no century. Every culture on earth knows what one is. It is older than every religion and newer than any doctrine. It cannot be weaponised. It cannot be owned. It grows.
What you can still hold against it
The shape is genuinely used in esoteric and New Age material today, and ROOT chose it knowing that. The argument on this page is that a shape produced by two overlapping circles cannot belong to anyone. That argument cuts both ways. It does not prove ROOT's intentions either.
And a symbol is a poor place to settle anything at all. It can be read into forever, by anyone, in any direction, and no amount of history closes it.
So do not settle it here
Settle it on the words.
