Day 31

Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in the heavens give good things to those who ask him.

Matthew 7:7, 11

Read it aloud. Then sit with it. Say nothing for ten minutes.

What have you stopped asking for?

The card is drawn on your own phone and never leaves it until you send it.

A note on one word: evil

The Greek is poneroi ontes. The word is harsh and it has not been softened here. The sentence is an argument from the lesser to the greater, and its force depends entirely on the size of the gap: even you, being evil, still know how to give your children good things, so how much more the Father. A gentler word would make the sentence smaller than he made it.
